Working for our future
Barung Big Butterfly Survey and Landcare Working Bee Join us on Saturday March 12th for a morning surveying the emerging Barung Seed Forest for butterflies. The butterfly survey is part of the inaugural week-long Sunshine Coast's Big Butterfly Count which will run from the 12th to the 20th of March. The survey is open to anyone, no matter whether you are an expert or an amateur butterfly spotter, your eyes will be a great help to the cause. Surveying the forest will help us to learn more about what species are using the site as habitat and data collected will feed into a larger pool of information that will help inform us of what species are present on the Sunshine Coast, and where they occur in the region. Following the survey we will host a free morning tea and then invite people to help with some Landcare activities such as weed removal and tidying the forest and new plantings to ensure it stays healthy as habitat for all of the wildlife using the site. Our intention is to host a regular working bee of volunteers at the Barung Seed Forest, so if you would like to be part of the care group that helps create diversity and habitat for local wildlife, this is a wonderful opportunity to come along and get involved.
