Paralysis

  Ticks

                                 our pets and us

It seems that Paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus) are responsible for an increasing range of human health risks in Australia, from Mammalian Meat Allergy (MMA), Ricketsia and a Lyme-like disease.  Locally we have seen an increase in recent years in the number of people suffering anaphylactic reactions following tick bites.

To bring us up to date on these issues we have invited Dr Leigh Findlay (veterinarian) to discuss the effect of paralysis ticks on our pets and how to manage them to reduce the incidence and consequences of tick bites.

Dr Ted Chamberlain (Senior Medical Superintendant, Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital) will shed some light on the issues mentioned as they pertain to human health.

When: Monday 4th, December                                        Time:   6 for a 6.30pm start (Tea & Coffee available)                                           Venue:    Venue: Supplied on registration
